Henry Golding has shared the first photo from the movie on his Instagram account, writing: “Because its my birthday today and I’m playing Snake Eyes… Here’s your first look.”

The image isn’t that revealing: it’s a black-and-white shot of Golding from behind. Sword dangling across his belt, the mask-less ninja commando slowly makes his way up the stone steps to the temple spotted above. Director Robert Schwentke (REDInsurgent) promised to infuse this film with elements from Japense cinema, and the photo invokes the atmosphere of classic samurai movies.

Director DJ Caruso, who has been attached to a third main series film, has said that if the new movies do well enough, Hasbro could eventually cross the GI Joe franchise over with its Transformers series.
