As predicted and much to the fans relief Lucasfilm has released the final trailer to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It had been mentioned earlier last week that the final trailer would be shown during the Monday Night Football broadcast on ESPN; the trailer displays new looks at Rey’s struggle against the Dark Side, Kylo Ren’s striking back against the Resistance, and introduces new mysterious characters joining the fight against the First Order as well as an old fan favorite. We also get more details about Emperor Palpatine’s possible appearance in the movie.
Check the trailer below:
If you are confused like some people are about Palpatine returning after he was apparantly killed in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi by Darth Vader, director J.J. Abrams had this to say:
“Some people feel like we shouldn’t revisit the idea of Palpatine, and I completely understand that,” Abrams says in an interview with Empire Magazine. “But if you’re looking at the nine films as one story, I don’t know many books where the last few chapters have nothing to do with those that have come before. If you look at the first eight films, all the set-ups of what we’re in IX are there in plain view.”
Let’s not forget that Palpatine liked to deal alot in cloning….
