Bethseda has announced Fallout 76 now has a subscription.
Bethesda has launched private servers for Fallout 76, and a membership subscription which Bethseda is calling Fallout 1st is required if you want to use the feature. Followers of the game can obtain the subscription as of now.
Fallout 1st comes with additional benefits, as well including the following:
Private Worlds – Play in a Private World exclusively for you and up to seven friends
Scrapbox – Unlimited storage for crafting components in your own new Scrapbox container
Survival Tent – A new placeable fast travel point with a Stash, Sleeping Bag and more for your basic needs
Atoms – Receive 1,650 Atoms per month to use in the Atomic Shop
Ranger Armor Outfit – An iconic Fallout outfit, exclusively for members
Icons and Emotes pack – Unique icons and emotes, available only to members
Initially Bethseda planned to only sell cosmetic items but things changed along the way.
“The community has been asking for the ability to play in private worlds since before the launch of Fallout 76, and we’re very excited to announce that they are coming to the game with Fallout 1st.” Bethseda said in its announcement.
Private worlds have been requested since launch, according to Bethesda, and while you’ll need to subscribe if you want to make one, you’ll still be able to invite friends who aren’t members. Only the owner needs to pay up. The game will otherwise be the same as regular Adventure Mode, but private.
Be warned: if the owner leaves and there aren’t any other members in the server, it will shut down. Character progress and C.A.M.P. placement are saved, but the servers aren’t persistent.
The Fallout 1st monthly package is going for $12/£12 per month, which is considerably higher than some other MMO subscriptions. Subscribers can also get an annual package at $100/£100 per year which is 36 percent cheaper.
What do Fallout 76 players think about the subscription? Well it did not go down well as one can see from the Twitter responses.
We're releasing Update 14 today which brings new events, private worlds, improvements, and much more to #Fallout76.
