Did DC Reveal The Year of the Villain Secret Six Mystery Unexpectantly?

Although Lex Luthor maybe the brainchild behind DC’s Year of Villian, The Batman Who Laughs is stealing the show by infecting various characters throughout the DC Universe.

The infected DC heroes have been dubbed the Secret Six, with five of the heroes — Jim Gordon, Shazam, Supergirl, Blue Beetle and Hawkman — named through preview pages for Batman/Superman, covers for The infected and the final issue of The Batman who laughs miniseries. One infected had yet to be revealed but it looks like DC spilled the beans on its identity weeks ago.

An animated video of Year of the Villain’s Who are the infected? teaser art was posted to the official DC Superman Twitter account, revealing Donna Troy as the last Infected DC hero. As the camera jumps from character to character, the animation turns them into their infected versions right before our eyes.

When further analysing the teaser it seems all six heroes are using a hand to touch their faces. While the reason for this gesture remains a mystery,it is a sign of the infected. All six heroes touch on different corners of the DC Universe, with Jim Gordon, Supergirl and Donna Troy having a close relation to Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, respectively.

This announcement of Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #1 assembles The Batman Who Laughs’ twisted Justice League on its cover, as they prepare to do battle with Apex Lex in a conclusion to the events of both Justice League‘s “Justice/Doom War” arc and Batman/Superman‘s “Infected” arc.

The limited series of unspecified length will bring together storylines that have been brewing in the DC Universe since Dark Nights: Metal, throughout Justice League‘s “Justice/Doom War,” and Batman/Superman‘s “Infected,” and the over-arching “Year of the Villain crossover.”

“It is the culmination of both threads,” Tynion told ScreenRant, who announced Hell Arisen. “Taking a step back: when Scott Snyder, Josh Williamson and I were talking about what we wanted to build out on the other side of Dark Nights: Metal, the big event a couple of years ago, we built this whole big map. One part of the map was the Justice League side of the map. And more than anything, that story was the story of Lex Luthor.”
