Chernobylite Official Gamescom Gameplay Demo

The Chernobyl nuclear disaster had left a mark on the world in more ways then one – even as recently within movies, tv shows sush as  HBO’s mini-series with the same name to video games such as the Stalker. The latest rendition of the disaster can be found in Chernobylite.

The Farm 51, developers of the game recently revealed a  demo at Gamescom 2019, showing off a 17-minute long gameplay bit of this non-linear game, and initial reactions were very positive.

We’ve posted the demo below this article if you want to skip down. Otherwise, you can read the overview to get some more info about the game.

Things even get weirder as Igor gets bombarded by the visions of other victims. The greatest threat to him is the pack of masked soldiers that can access that same dimension.

Initially, he is taking his trip to bring his girlfriend back. 30 years after the disaster, Igor finally chooses to face his fear and revisits the scene where his girlfriend disappears. However, the military guarding at this place is preventing you from breaching the infectious zone, so you’ll have to be sneaky.

The further he investigates this area, the more he reveals the mystery behind the disasters. Can Igor find his beloved ones back?

Chernobylite is a combination of the Stalker and Metro mixed together

The backstory of Chernobylite already shows potential as it bringsplenty of messages about obsession, love, and conspiracy. The game in reality is not exactly about facing your fears but surviving them.

Chernobylite used 3D xcanning in order to create its Chernobyl scenery which gives it lifelike properties. In there, you’ll have to sneak in the area full of radiation to find the secrets behind your girlfriend’s disappearance. You are not alone as there are other stalkers in the area as well, and you can choose to ally with some of them. Just be careful as not everyone is geniune, some have secret agendas too.

As Igor investigates the area he uncovers truths behind the disasters but will he be able to find his girlfriend?

Chernobylite factors in realistic survival elements you don’t always find in other games; for example, Igor has health and energy gauges that you have to keep an eye on plus he also carries a Geiger counter so he can measure the  radiation levels so that he doesn’t end up in a contaminated area.

Igor also has skills, being a physicist he can make weapons as well as other equipment and supplies. They will become useful in certain situations, and it’s also mandatory to get to other areas alive. For example, you might come against the deadly situation when some mutant monsters strike. At those times, apart from running and hiding, you’ll need weapons to stand a chance against them.

The first-person surviving gameplay of the game combined with the eerie environment of Chernobyl is best displayed via the demo below. To summarise the game it carries some of the better elements found in 2 other famous titles – the Stalker and Metro.
