Bumblebee’s Hailee Steinfeld May Get Kate Bishop’s role on MCU’s Hawkeye Series

News is coming in that Disney+’ Hawkeye is targetting Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld to star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s show as Kate Bishop.

Just less than a year after bringing back to life the Transformers franchise, Hailee Steinfeld may just another big role with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Variety is reporting that Marvel Studios has their eye on Hailee Steinfeld for Disney+’s upcoming Hawkeye series. This would most likely mean Steinfeld would star as Kate Bishop, who will inherit the title character’s mantle from Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton just like the comics.

In fact, currently not much is known about the Disney+ series besides the fact that Kate Bishop will be in it. But considering the logo being used, it does look very similar to  the comic series created by Matt Fraction and David Aja which was an award-winning run and beloved by fans of the character. Fans have been wishing that Marvel would adapt that run in some form ever since the MCU caught on fire.

Steinfeld is already a vetern in the superhero film industry given her previous works which include being the  main character Charlie in the critically acclaimed Bumblebee film. She also voiced  Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Previously she also starred in Pitch Perfect 2, The Edge of Seventeen, Ender’s Game and True Grit.

Yet this isn’t the first time that Steinfeld has had the chance to be cast as a fictional archer onscreen. Her name was tossed to to play Katniss in The Hunger Games franchise before the role went to Jennifer Lawrence.

Kate Bishop was created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung. She first appeared in 2005’s Young Avengers #1 and, in addition to that team, she has also served as a West Coast Avenger.

Disney+ launches on Nov. 12. Starring Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton, Hawkeye is scheduled to premiere in fall 2021.
