New Duranki Manga launched by Berserk’s creator Kentarou Miura!

Long time Berserk fans can rejoice as news unfolds that it’s creator, Kentarou Miura, will finally publish the Duranki manga which is based on his original work in Hakusensha’s Young Animal magazine issue 17. Issue 17 is set to hit newstands on September 9th. It was also revealed on Friday that Miura will also be the producer of this series via Studio Gaga, which Miura owns.

The initial story will consist of 64 pages split into two chapters.

To further excite Berserk fans it was also revealed that a new chapter was printed last Friday in this same magazine. Fans are now used to delays with story arcs sometimes taking years to publish. Prior to this, the last chapter was issued on 26th March of this year following an 8 month delay.

Going back to the Duranki manga, fans (who understand Japanese) will take notice that initial image released (see above) has a statement which translated to English reads as:

“The gap between Heaven and Earth. Neither god nor human. Usmugar, a child granted the name of a dragon. The ancient world. Using wisdom, a new myth is being built!!!”

Those who are not familiar with Young Animal should note that it is a monthly seinen magazine which focuses on action filled stories targeting older teens to the younger men age groups. It carries a number of renowned writers and artists from the world of manga including such names as Merō Meiji, Gaku Kuze, So-He- Inaba & Arata Miyatsuki

Fun fact: Miura has stated in the past that he attributes  Fist of the North Star as the biggest inspiration  and that legendary manga artist Go Nagai as his main reference when Miura is creating his work.
