Although the summer blockbuster season is almost over, there are still plenty of awesome movies left in 2019! If you thought that the best cinema of the year has already came and went, then you’ll probably want to check out this list of the most anticipated movies for the last half of 2019. From long-awaited sequels to fresh new films from influential directors, the fall and winter season is sure to yield some great movies. If you’re not sure what movies you should check out in the coming months, then hopefully this list will provide you with some flicks to get excited for.

The Most Anticipated Movies of Fall 2019

August contains a handful of must-see films, including the highly anticipated children’s book adaptation Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (August 9th). Families will surely enjoy both Dora and the Lost City of Gold (August 9th) and The Angry Birds Movie 2 (August 14th). Fans of naughty comedies will laugh out loud when Good Boys (August 16th) lands in theaters as well.

September gets the horror train started in earnest, with the potentially record-breaking It: Chapter Two (September 6th) starting off the month. Things get even creepier later in the month, when Rob Zombie’s latest film 3 From Hell (September 16th) comes out. If you’re interested in another franchise revival, look no further than Rambo: Last Blood (September 20th).

October is an absolute grab bag of a month, with something for every kind of movie-goer. Dramas like Gemini Man (October 4th) and Joker (October 4th) show some promise, as do the long overdue sequels Zombieland: Double Tap (October 11th) and the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (October 15th). Family fun can be had with the new Addams Family (October 11th) adaptation, as well as Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (October 18th, 2019). We’re especially looking forward to two unique films releasing this month, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (October 18th) and arresting indie film The Lighthouse (October 18th).

The Most Anticipated Movies of Winter 2019

November also has a slew of sequels and reboots to consume, some looking better than others. The Terminator franchise gets another entry in Terminator: Dark Fate (November 1st), and audiences will see if a new version of Charlie’s Angels (November 15th) is worth the watch. Car aficionados will enjoy the historical Ford v Ferrari (November 15th), while younger audiences chill out with Frozen 2 (November 22nd). Stephen King books are also very popular lately, evidenced further by the adaptation of Doctor Sleep (November 8th).

The final month of the year is always an interesting time for movies, and December 2019 is no different. The classic horror film Black Christmas (December 13th) is getting a reboot, while the CGI-heavy adaptation of the musical Cats (December 20th) lightens the mood. We’re also looking forward to the two biggest sequels of the winter, Jumanji: The Next Level (December 13th) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20th). We also can’t wait for the epic World War 1 drama 1917 (December 25th).

As you can see, there are countless films left to check out in the coming months. In fact, 2019 seems to be an exceptionally good year for movies, with some absolutely fantastic films set to release in all genres. The majority of the reboots and sequels are looking interesting, and a smattering of original stories should keep things refreshing. From the releases alone, it’s looking like October and November are going to be especially busy times, so don’t forget to mark your calendars.
