It’s not The End for KISS as Zombies attack!

Dynamite has recently announced the newest chapter in the KISS saga – KISS Zombies!

KISS Zombies, will be released this November and will be set in the post apocalypse. Decades after humanity has fallen and been reduced to pockets of survivors, humans are now living in strongholds such as New Detroit. Given that the zombies who have taken over the Earth are attracted to sounds, music and anything related to it have been banned. This has not gone down well with a group of teenagers and they embark on a quest to find the legendary KISS! band who may hold the key to turn back the Zombie tide.

The mini-series will be written by Ethan Sacks (Star Wars, Old Man Hawkeye) , drawn by Rodney Buchemi (Death of Hawkman) along with Dijjo Lima (Doc Savage, Assassin’s Creed) & Troy Peteri (Amazing Spider-Man, Witchblade) on colors and letters. Sacks known for his work on the Old Man Hawkeye & Old Man Star Lord titles expands outside of Marvel for the first time. Fans are to note that Sacks was previously a journalist and has experience dealing with the legendary rock band.

Sacks was quoted as saying:

“In my two and a half decades as an entertainment journalist, one of my most proud achievements was interviewing Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley for a 40th anniversary retrospective of KISS,”

and:

“After all, this was a band that had provided the soundtrack for much of my life, and their eerie black and white makeup aesthetic seared itself in my brain during my childhood when I first spied those album covers in an older cousin’s record collection. So, all these years later, I jumped at the chance to write a KISS comic. Then my editor, Kevin Ketner, went and threw in zombies too. Allowing a George Romero uber-fan to pen a book about the undead is like waving slivers of brain in front of an actual zombie.”

Sacks describes the mini-series as “as a cocktail of Land of the Dead, A Quiet Place, Seven Samurai and even Footloose!”

Furthermore, artist Rodney Buchemi added:

“It’s great to be back with KISS. The first series I did was a sensational experience. Working on Ethan’s scripts has been great fun on every page and every panel. And of course, drawing zombies is fun!”

Dynamite CEO and Publisher, Nick Barrucci, said:

“With each new KISS series, we try and push the mythology of this iconic band even farther and surprise fans,”

He also added:

“We’ve been thinking over this zombies concept for a long time, but knew a great writer was needed to execute it as well as have the needed passion for both the band and the cultural hallmark of zombies. We literally could not have found a better match than Ethan, and we’re honored to work with him as he expands his career to other publishers.”

As usual, this issue will carry more than one cover – 4 in fact. Cover A will be drawn by none other than reknowned Zombie artist Arthur Suydam (DCeased, Marvel Zombies), Cover B by Stuart Sayger (Vampirella vs. Reanimator), Cover C by interior artist Buchemi & Cover D will carry a photo cover of the legendary band.

Fans should also note that Dynamite will also be releasing in November KISS – The End by Amy Chu (Red Sonja, Poison Ivy) and Edu Menna (Twilight Zone, ZNation) in trade paperback form. MaltaComics will be carrying each of these products.
