The American cable box channel – AMC announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that The Walking Dead, which many expected to tell us what happened to it’s main character Rick Grimes, will not be shown on TV, but in the movies!
Although Andrew Lincoln left the series and with him his tv character during season 9 of The Walking Dead, the leader of our band of survivors should still make his appearance soon, but this time in his own movie! As announced last November, the AMC channel plans to develop the post-apocalyptic saga by launching several feature films within The Walking Dead Franchise, including a first focus on Rick Grimes in which we discover what happened to him after his kidnapping and departure by helicopter.
Many followers expected that cable channel would simply broadcast these films on the small screen, nut the AMC channel has finally revealed during a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con that they will need to go to the cinema instead! The first installment will be dedicated to the former fearless leader of our apocalyptic band of survivors and shall be produced in collaboration with Universal Pictures. Attendees during that panel were entitled to a first teaser broadcast at the convention with the trailer ending with the phrase ” Rick Grimes returns only to the cinema “, leaving no doubt about the broadcast media chosen by AMC. No release date has yet been announced, but we can hope to see this first film arrive in the course of next year within theatres.
